Existential Moment

My existential moment is whenever I watch Horton Hears a Who. It makes me wonder if our whole existence is just a speck in the lives of someone else. Is there something bigger than our existence? It makes me wonder if there is an unbelievably large spectrum of unknown in our daily lives, that we have no idea about and no way to figure out. What if there is more universe beyond our solar system, and it just keeps going on forever? Does existence go on forever in all different directions?

The Great Gatsby

"So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past."
I think this is saying, that no matter what, life goes on. Throughout everything that happens in life, we still some how manage to beat on. Against all the hardships and struggle, we still manage to go through life. But I also think it is trying to say that our past will always be with us. People always say to not dwell on the past, but it will forever be a part of who we are and will continually shape us.

The American Dream

The American Dream is a hard thing to consider. People continue to come into this country because of the illusion on the American Dream. I do not believe that the haves and the have-nots can be classified into groups based on how hard they work. Sometimes, those who work much harder than others do not end up being as materialistically wealthy. Wealth comes in different form other than money, and I think those who work the hardest get to be all around wealthy, which is much more beneficial.

Olympics

I love the Olympics and everything about them. I not only enjoy watching all the sports, but I love the community the games entail. The opening games are one of the best parts, with the amazing show it puts on. Something that angers me though, is the fact that softball is no longer an Olympic sport. It used to be, and they removed it. Softball is my favorite sport and it is fascinating to watch the best players in the world compete, but that is no longer an option. Other than that fact, I love the Olympics.

Originality

I believe that all ideas are rooted from other things. There are so many things in life that can affect ones judgment and idea in life. I whole heartedly believe that experiences impact the way that every person live's their lives. This shows in the decisions one makes. I agree with both Steve Jobs and Mark Twain in saying that ideas all come from outside sources.

Book Review

A book that I frequently find myself recommending is Jackie Robinson:A Biography by Arnold Rampersad. It is a very interesting book because the story of Jackie Robinson is an unbelievably inspiring tale. As readers, we learn about the struggles that Jackie Robinson faced, not only on the baseball field but also in his personal life, being an African-American making a change. It not only discusses baseball but also civil rights, both of which are intriguing. I would recommend this book because it is a story that everyone should be aware of, not only sports fans.

Chances

1) To open up more to the people around me, don't hide parts of myself
2) Stop being so afraid of letting other people down and do what I need to do for myself
3) Become more outgoing around people I do not know

Cell Phone

If I had no cell phone, my daily life would be very different. I wouldn't have the ability to communicate with people. The biggest things that I would miss would be having music at the palm of my hand. There are so many people that are too dependent on their cell phones and "can't live without them." I would be fine without a cell phone. I go camping for long periods of time without a phone and it is such a nice escape from technology and reality. If nobody had cell phones, we would all get used to it, but if I was the only one without one, and I was around people with them, it would be much harder to adjust.

Inanimate Objects

In my opinion, it is okay to cling to inanimate objects for the memories associated with them but it is also okay to cling to them in the moment. I have momentos from different trips that I like to keep that remind me of where I have been. Something that is very important to me are bracelets that I have gotten my camping trips I have been on every summer for the past five years. They are things that even if I don't get any use out of them, I will continue to keep throughout the years. I also have things that I cling to for no memorial reasons. I cling hard to my bed because I love sleeping and it is so comfortable. I think it is okay to cling to things, but only to a certain point, of not being a horder.

Typical Day

Eat, sleep, school, sports and homework. These five things consume my day every week. I am consistently doing the same things over and over. Because these things take up so much time, it is hard to be able to squeeze in anything else. The occasional Netflix or time with my family is thrown in there but not as much as I would like. This is what leads to the stress in my life, but being this busy during the week is what makes me look forward to the weekend that much more.

Past: Stress

The word to describe my past is stress. Dealing with school and sports together leads to a lot of stress. Everyday I have school, practice and then multiple hours of homework. On top of that, this year has had college applications to worry about. Trying to deal with all four of those things gets overwhelming. Hopefully in my future, my stress level will drop and my happiness level will raise.
